about

Welcome to ‘Household Faveworms’ - mysterious experimental artist CL369’s debut EP for Bad Sekta…

Drawing on distinctly alchemical currents connecting such sonic adventurers as Autechre, Ben Frost, Coil, Einstürzende Neubauten, Nic Endo, Otomo Yoshihide, Russell Haswell, Scanner (Robin Rimbaud), Throbbing Gristle, William S. Burroughs and Zeropointenergy (Ryan Jordan), ‘Household Faveworms’ features twenty-three captivating noise pieces, quite literally exploring the world around them during their creation.

Created in collaboration with normally inaudible atmospheric interference, each track on this release derives from electromagnetic radiation emitted by both natural and artificial sources. This was achieved by generating raw material using various parts of CL369’s body, several household appliances, a SOMA Ether V2 and a Zoom H2n, with minimal editing and level adjustment applied subsequently. The proceedings are rounded off with a remix from Phuq.

The electrical appliances heard “playing” on these recordings include: ceiling lights, a cordless drill, a desktop computer, a digital hygrometer, a food dehydrator, a fridge-freezer, an oscillating fan, plant grow lamps (both HPS and LED), a vacuum cleaner and wall sockets. The Ether, “an "Anti-Radio" for experimental applications”, is a Wide-Band Electromagnetic Radiation Receiver (WBERR), which receives and processes atmospheric interference. Unique to every location, signals from such emissions are interpreted using either the device’s three integrated or two external antennas (the latter inviting direct contact with conductive materials, such as metal and skin).
